Established in January of 2002, Kalimba House Corporation seeks to collaborate with landlords, treatment centers, recovery homes, and the community to provide affordable long term housing for recovering individuals, using the Oxford House™ model.
Kalimba seeks to change the culture of recovery by bridging the gap between treatment and independent living. We believe that recovery involves a personal recognition of the need for change and personal transformation to become productive and contributing members of society.
We believe recovery is a process of healing and self-redefinition that requires time and support. Kalimba seeks to allow each and every recovery individual the opportunity to feel "right at home" in keeping with the Illinois Oxford House™ motto of "A place we call home".
All our activities, programs and services are built on principles of Recovery, Responsibility and Replication.
